Damaged little heart.

I would be lying if I told you I’m not frightened.
The prospect of having a damaged heart, figuratively and literally, is not so promising.
It’s poetic yes,  but how good are beautifully strung words when the heart wants to give up?
But one has to carry on with life,
Bearing oh so delicately the burdens that were thrust upon our little shoulders.
Smiling through the pain and holding on to that tiny fragment of hope…
As the tired little heart continues to beat slowly into another night.
